Belk's Fall Charity Sale on Nov. 7 will benefit local charities, schools and nonprofit organizations throughout the Charlotte-based company's 16-state market area, including South Carolina and its four stores in the Charleston area. Belk's previous Charity Sale on May 2 raised more than $5 million for hundreds of participating nonprofit organizations. The four-hour, in-store shopping event provides a chance for customers to support worthwhile charities and take advantage of special discounts on purchases made during the event. In exchange for a $5 donation, customers will receive a ticket admitting them to the Charity Sale from 6 a.m. to 10 a.m. and entitling them to discounts ranging from an extra 15 to 50 percent off purchases throughout the store. Customers will receive $5 off their first purchase of $5 or more, and Belk cardholders will receive double Rewards points for card purchases. Participating local charities will sell Charity Sale tickets in advance and all proceeds from each $5 ticket sold will be retained by the charity.
